Coriander, or Cilantro (Coriander Seed), is derived from the plant known scientifically as Coriandrum sativum. The essential oil of Coriander is obtained through steam distillation of the seeds and has a spicy and warm aroma.
The essential oil of Coriander is used in aromatherapy as an analgesic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, detoxifying, aphrodisiac, calming, warming, lipolytic, tonic, and digestive agent. It is also beneficial for allergic or sensitive skin types, arthritic and muscular pain, insomnia, migraines, colds, and increased stress.
The components of coriander essential oil have medicinal properties. It possesses strong antiparasitic, bactericidal, and virucidal effects. Particularly effective against the flu and cystitis caused by bacteria, its application and massage are recommended.
