Mastic comes from the plant Pistacia lentiscus, which is endemic to Mediterranean countries such as Greece, Turkey, Morocco, as well as areas in Iran, Iraq, and southern France. Within the European Union, Chios mastic has been a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product since 1997.
Mastic oil is produced by steam distillation of natural mastic, releasing an intense, fresh, woody aroma. It is widely used in the production of cosmetics, perfumes, and pharmaceuticals. It is frequently found in oral hygiene products, antibacterial solutions, antiseptic creams, etc. It has antibacterial, antifungal, and decongestant properties. It is recommended for respiratory issues and helps combat colds and bronchitis. It is particularly effective for dermatological problems like acne and is believed to combat spider veins and varicose veins. Its anti-inflammatory action is attributed to the oleanoic acid it contains.
Mastic oil is widely used in the cosmetic industry due to its strong antioxidant properties, which neutralize free radicals. It cleanses and brightens the skin while helping to tighten tissues.
Mastic Essential Oil blends well with: Sage, Organic Sage, Rosemary, Organic Rosemary, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Organic Cinnamon, Clove, Strawberry, Lemon, Organic Lemon, Organic Orange, and Orange.
