Ginger (Zingiber Officinale) is derived from the plant known by this name. The essential oil of Ginger or Zingiber is obtained through steam distillation of the plant's roots and has a warm, spicy, woody aroma.

The essential oil of Ginger is used in aromatherapy as a digestive aid, laxative, analgesic, antiemetic, antipyretic, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, bactericidal, and warming agent. It enhances mood, promotes good circulation, alleviates muscle pain, nausea, and nervous exhaustion, stimulates the mind, and improves appetite. Additionally, it is excellent for cases of high cholesterol and diabetes.
