The Witch Hazel tincture is made by soaking the aerial parts of the Witch Hazel plant in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the herbs dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.

In modern herbal medicine, Witch Hazel is considered particularly effective for treating hemorrhoids and phlebitis, as well as effectively addressing eye infections and conjunctivitis. Generally, Witch Hazel is regarded as very good for managing bleeding. Its action is thought to be due to its ability to constrict blood vessels and return them to their normal size.
