The Dictamus tincture is made by soaking the leaves of dictamus in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.

The Dictamus Tincture (Origanum dictamnus) contains the same active ingredients as the dried dictamus herb. In modern herbal therapy, its primary use by practitioners is to soothe stomach and abdominal pains. Dictamus contains a wide variety of chemical compounds, which contribute to the plant's various aromatic and therapeutic properties. The plant contains essential oil, primarily composed of thymol, carvacrol, and camphor, which provide its therapeutic effects, as well as pulegone, which gives it aromatic properties. The useful parts of the plant for medicinal purposes are the aerial parts, and after use, it should be stored in a sealed glass container. Dictamus acts as an effective antioxidant and has been shown to have antimicrobial activity. It exhibits healing and astringent properties, and for this reason, it is considered a remedy for the stomach (stomach herb) and abscesses. It is recommended for stomach disorders, colic, and gastrointestinal inflammation. It is also suggested for nervous disorders, headaches, and other ailments of the nervous system due to its soothing properties. For its antiseptic properties, it is used for flu and colds, and it is also used as a hemostatic (mouth herb) and against bad breath (mouth herb).

Herbal tinctures retain all the active ingredients of the plant, are particularly easy to take, and are entirely natural. They undoubtedly surpass dietary supplements in pill form, as they contain no chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.

Herbal tinctures are very potent and should be consumed according to the provided instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (approximately 10-20 drops per day). It should not be consumed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
