The Borage Tincture is made by soaking the aerial parts of Borage in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the herb dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.
The Borage Tincture (Borago officinalis) is derived from the processing of the herb that thrives in Europe (mainly the Mediterranean), North Africa, and South America. It shares the same properties as the Borage herb.
In modern herbal therapy, Borage is primarily used for skin conditions, kidney stones, and rheumatism. The herb contains saponins, mucilage, tannins, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and essential oil. It acts as a diaphoretic, expectorant, tonic, anti-inflammatory, and galactagogue. Borage serves as a restorative agent for the adrenal cortex, rejuvenating the adrenal glands after treatment with cortisone or steroids. Borage can be used as an adrenal tonic for extended periods, stimulating adrenal glands to promote adrenaline production. It may also be administered during fevers and especially during recovery. It has a reputation as an anti-inflammatory herb for conditions like pleurisy. The leaves and seeds enhance milk flow during breastfeeding.
Tinctures preserve all the active ingredients of the herb, are very easy to take, and are completely natural. They undoubtedly have advantages over dietary supplements in pill form, as they contain no chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.
Herbal tinctures are very potent, and for this reason, they should be consumed according to the provided instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (approximately 10-20 drops) per day. They should not be consumed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
The Borage Tincture is prepared in Greece under the strictest European standards, using exclusively pure and tested raw materials.
