The Fenugreek tincture is derived from the immersion of fenugreek seeds in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the herb dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the creation of the tincture.
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum), also known by names such as trigonella, teel, dilin, don-dilin, strufili, musky wheat, and tsimenti, has the same properties as the herb itself.
In modern herbal medicine, Fenugreek is used for a variety of conditions. It contains, besides steroid saponins (mainly diosgenin), 30% mucilaginous substances (polysaccharide galactomannan), 20% proteins, choline, alkaloids, 8% oils, calcium, potassium, iron, and vitamins A, B, and C. The herb acts as an expectorant, emollient, tonic, and galactagogue. It is useful for local treatment and reducing inflammation in conditions such as wounds, irritated sores, fistulas, and tumors. Fenugreek also acts as a laxative, lubricates the intestines, and reduces fever. Additionally, it helps lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels and assists in cases of asthma and sinusitis by reducing mucus. It promotes milk production in nursing mothers and is considered beneficial for the eyes and for lung inflammation and disorders.
The tinctures retain all the active ingredients of the herb, are particularly easy to take, and are completely natural. They undoubtedly surpass dietary supplements in pill form, as they do not contain chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.
Herbal tinctures are very potent, and for this reason, they should be consumed according to the instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (approximately 10-20 drops) per day. They should not be consumed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The Fenugreek tincture is prepared in Greece under the strictest European standards, using only pure and verified raw materials.
