Historical Notes:
The golden flower of the Greek countryside is always in bloom! It symbolizes eternal love and is linked to the myth of Paris and beautiful Helen. According to the myth, when Paris abducted the beautiful Helen from Sparta and while traveling to Troy, they stopped at Kythira to make sacrifices to the goddess Aphrodite, who protected them. There, they spent a few days and completed their love. However, beautiful Helen envied the goddess Aphrodite, who according to mythology lived on the island, and demanded that Paris tell her she was the most beautiful woman. To calm her down, Paris pointed to the yellow flower and said, "Do you see this flower? Your hair has its golden color, your body resembles its stem, and your skin is soft like its petals. Your beauty will remain like this forever." Thus, the flower became known as "sempreviva."
