Guarana (Paullinia cupana) is a climbing plant native to the Amazon and is common in South America. It is now cultivated worldwide. The useful part of the plant is its seeds, which are ground into powder.
Guarana has been used for many years and gets its name from the Guarani Indians of Uruguay and Paraguay due to its stimulating and tonic properties.
In modern herbal medicine, Guarana is primarily used by practitioners to address headaches and migraines, as well as to combat symptoms of nervous exhaustion and depression. The active compound guaranine contained in the herb is similar to caffeine, but its concentration (up to 7%) is higher than that found in coffee (up to 2%). Guaranine, combined with two other alkaloids present in Guarana (theobromine and theophylline), results in stimulation and rejuvenation of the nervous system. For this reason, Guarana is believed to help alleviate headaches and cases of depression related to nervous exhaustion. The distinctive feature of guaranine is that it is absorbed by the body at much lower rates than caffeine, resulting in "energy" that lasts much longer than that from coffee.
Today, Guarana is included in many formulations aimed at improving athletic performance as well as in products addressing erectile dysfunction. Additionally, due to its diuretic action, it has become an essential ingredient in many herbal diet products.
Apart from all these benefits, Guarana contains tannins, saponins, and xanthines.
Usage: Organic Guarana Powder can be used in foods and beverages. It can be added to cereals, energy bars, and various sweets, as well as to drinks like smoothies, milkshakes, juices, and plant or animal milk.
Moreover, due to its caffeine content, it helps release energy from fat metabolism (lipolysis). This way, glycogen can be conserved, enabling sustained performance without a drop in output.
- Guarana rejuvenates without overstimulation. It helps prepare the body for physical performance, as well as mental performance in sequence movements or programmed outputs.
- Guarana aids in fat release due to its caffeine content. This conserves glycogen, allowing for prolonged exertion without interruption in performance.
- Guarana reduces feelings of hunger. This makes it easier to endure workouts without carbohydrate intake, leading to better fat metabolism results. For fitness athletes, where weight is crucial, Guarana offers the opportunity to reduce fat reserves more easily, while also minimizing the risk of regaining lost weight due to hunger post-exercise.
In conclusion, Guarana complements the propulsive action of Carnitine for fat burning, as it releases fatty acids from adipose tissue, which are then transported with the help of Carnitine to the fat-burning site, the cells. However, Guarana cannot replace the necessary training for intensive fat burning.
Usage: 0.5g to 1g up to 2 times a day, morning and afternoon, for weight loss and appetite control for an active day. Avoid excessive consumption. The effect lasts for 2 to 4 hours. Do not consume before sleep.
Ideal for vegetarians and vegans.
