Description: Bee pollen is collected by bees from various flower species, making it a rich source of active biological substances. It is harvested from beehives located in Vermio and Halkidiki. Bee pollen offers immediate energy and improved cognitive function. It is invaluable for athletes, students, and the elderly, and helps in managing conditions such as duodenal ulcers, anemia, diabetes, prostate issues, liver disorders, anorexia, and arteriosclerosis.

Bees transport pollen from flower to flower, fertilizing plants and ensuring 80% of our food supply. Pollen is an important food source for humans, primarily rich in proteins, but also containing lipids, vitamins, and minerals. However, pollen from a single plant species does not provide all the essential amino acids and components needed by bees, which is why it’s crucial for them to feed on pollen from a wide variety of plants. The same principle applies to humans who consume pollen in their diet.

Bee pollen is considered a complete dietary supplement and a source of antioxidants, prebiotics, and probiotics, making it essential for our health!

Properties of Bee Pollen:

  • Improves physical and mental function, increases work capacity, soothes nerves, and combats insomnia and depression.
  • Contains rutin (also known as vitamin P), which protects blood vessel walls and the prostate from inflammation, hyperplasia, and malignant tumors.
  • Strengthens the immune system and promotes detoxification.
  • Improves digestion of other foods and regulates intestinal function, promoting beneficial gut bacteria (probiotics) and combating pathogens causing nutritional disorders and metabolic syndrome.
  • Reduces bad (LDL) cholesterol and increases good (HDL) cholesterol, lowering overall cholesterol and triglycerides.
  • Successfully used against obesity (increases metabolism, provides a feeling of fullness, supplies essential nutrients) and nervous anorexia (tones the depleted organism and replenishes nutrients).
  • Effective against anemia.
  • Regulates blood pressure and endocrine glands.
  • Used for allergies to inhaled pollen and other allergies.
  • Alleviates menopausal symptoms alone or in combination with royal jelly.
  • Stimulates libido and increases fertility.
  • Scientific studies since 1948 indicate it protects against cancer and has a positive effect on longevity and well-being.
  • Essential for athletes for optimal performance.

Nutritional Composition:

  • Proteins (all essential amino acids in ideal ratios)
  • Sugars (but low in calories, as the daily amount consumed is very small; a full tablespoon contains 45 calories)
  • Lipids
  • Lecithin (important for fat metabolism)
  • Macro and trace elements
  • Amino acids
  • Vitamins C, E, B
  • Flavonoids (powerful antioxidants and antimicrobials), including rutin (vitamin P).
  • Carotenoids
  • Nucleic acids and nucleotides
  • Enzymes
  • Growth factors
  • Beneficial microorganisms (probiotics)
  • P-coumaric acid (activates the body’s detoxification system)

The pollen grains from flowers are collected by bees, which form them into balls by adding a bit of nectar for better cohesion (along with probiotic microorganisms) and store them in their “pollen baskets” on the third pair of legs. When the basket is full, the bee returns to the hive, where it is stored in the honeycomb unless taken by the beekeeper using a special pollen trap.

The pollen collected with the pollen trap is then sifted with a special sorter to remove any foreign bodies and is immediately frozen at -18°C or partially dried and stored in refrigeration (+4°C).

Contraindications: The only contraindication is allergy to pollen consumption, which affects only about one in 2000 individuals. If unpleasant symptoms occur after consuming pollen (itching in the mouth, rashes, nausea, diarrhea), stop taking pollen and consult an allergist.

Dosage:

  • Adults: 1 to 3 teaspoons
  • Athletes: 3 to 6 teaspoons
  • Children: 1 teaspoon

Bee pollen should be consumed daily for at least 4 months as a dietary supplement, or as needed based on individual requirements. It can be consumed in the morning, alone or with honey, yogurt, or mixed in orange juice, and at least half an hour before a meal. For athletes with intense training, the dose may even be tripled, as well as for individuals with specific conditions after consulting a physician (many doctors in Greece recommend pollen to their patients).
