Organic Kelp Powder is derived from the seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum, which is large and brown in color. It belongs to the category of Laminariales, which includes 30 different genera. Organic Kelp Powder is considered a very important superfood for the human body.
This kelp powder has an olive color and a distinctive taste. It is rich in a mineral called vanadium, which is studied as a regulator of blood sugar. It is a positive source of various vitamins, trace elements, and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, and iodine.
Kelp acts as a natural diuretic and aids in weight management and detoxification.
Benefits of Kelp:
Lower LDL Cholesterol: A study published in a 2010 issue of "Pharmaceutical Biology" shows that Kelp, also known as Laminaria japonica, can reduce cholesterol levels. Not only did it lower LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglyceride levels, but it also increased HDL (good cholesterol) levels.
Breast Cancer Prevention: Comparing the diets of Japanese women with American women, one factor that stands out is the regular consumption of sea vegetables by the Japanese, including Kelp. This may contribute to the lower incidence of breast cancer among Japanese women, according to the American Cancer Society. Laboratory studies have shown that substances found in various types of seaweeds, such as Kelp, inhibited cancer cell growth and began to destroy cancer cells in experiments conducted on rats.
Lower Blood Sugar Levels: Promising research in Korea involving patients with type 2 diabetes shows that the intake of Kelp reduces blood sugar levels. Published in 2008 in "Nutrition Research and Practice," this study concluded that the consumption of seaweed affects glycemic control. Kelp powder is not intended to replace conventional medications but to offer a nutritious food option.
Iodine Source: Kelp provides a convenient way to ensure a regular source of iodine for our bodies, which is necessary for healthy thyroid function.
Weight Loss: Recent studies have examined the potential fat loss properties of Kelp. Due to its natural fiber content called sodium alginate, studies indicate it may prevent fat absorption in the intestine. A study published in Food Chemistry found that alginate could stop fat absorption in the stomach by up to 75%.
Natural Anti-inflammatory: Kelp acts as a general defense against most diseases. Inflammation is at the root of most diseases, and chronic inflammation can be triggered by an overactive immune system, flooding the body with harmful hormones.
Bone Density Support: Are you at risk for osteoporosis or other bone diseases? Kelp may help! First, it is a rich source of vitamin K, which plays a role in building denser bones that do not easily succumb to arthritis and osteoporosis. It’s also worth noting that if you are taking antibiotics, you may need to increase your vitamin K intake to avoid a deficiency.
