Bentonite clay, intended for cosmetic use, is derived from the processing (dehydration) of volcanic ash. It contains over 70 trace elements, with the largest quantities sourced from the United States.

Bentonite clay is used externally like all clays, to absorb toxins, impurities, and heavy metals from the skin. It has the unique property that when it comes into contact with water, it creates an electric charge that "attracts and holds" toxins, absorbing them like a sponge.

Detoxifying Cleansing Mask for the Face:

• 1 tablespoon clay
• 1 teaspoon rose water
• 2 drops chamomile essential oil

Apply to the face and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove with lukewarm water. A few minutes after application, the clay will dry.

Apply your chosen mask twice a week. Ideally, using a brush, leave it on for 5 to 20 minutes and remove it with plenty of water.

Various hydrosols, oils, and essential oils can also be added to mask preparations.

Bentonite clay is usually used as an ingredient in beauty masks and often in combination with other clays.
