Pink pepper is the fruit of a shrub that is unrelated to the plant from which we obtain black pepper. Originating from Brazil, these beautiful reddish-pink berries have a subtle and slightly bitter flavor.
Typically, pink pepper is not cooked and is almost always used whole (not ground), as it is extremely delicate and its outer skin breaks easily. It is less spicy than other types of pepper and releases sweet aromas.
It is also used in recipes for fish, soups, vegetables (like asparagus), and in combination with other peppercorns to create a colorful blend. Additionally, it can be used in tea.
