This herb is known as Lawsonia Inermis and is native to North Africa, Asia, and Australia. It is currently cultivated in Egypt, India, Kurdistan, Persia, and Syria. This plant can grow up to 6 meters tall and produces small white, pink, or yellow flowers with a strong, pleasant aroma and dark small fruits.

Historically, it has been used for various therapeutic purposes as an astringent, anti-hemorrhagic, hypotensive agent, and for treating jaundice, leprosy, smallpox, and skin conditions.

Since 1890, it has been systematically used in Europe for its property to dye hair naturally, while also strengthening hair, adding shine, and reducing hair loss.

Most people can safely dye their hair, but some may be sensitive to the substance para-phenylenediamine (PPDA), which is found in permanent hair dyes mixed with an oxidizing agent like hydrogen peroxide before application.

The herb's natural dyeing properties provide solutions for those allergic to PPDA.

Black henna in powder form is used for hair dyeing, as well as for tattoos, dyeing leather, and wool or other fabrics.

As a hair dye, it is a safe and natural way to change your hair color. It can even be used during pregnancy since it is made from plant-based, not chemical, pigments and does not contain toxic substances that could be harmful to the fetus, as well as to the nervous system and brain.

Herbstore's black henna is ideal for dark brown and black hair when you want to give it an even darker tone. It leaves hair moisturized, shiny, and strengthens the roots. Never use it alone on blonde, gray, or white hair, as there is a high chance of ending up with a green color. For a deeper and more intense color, you can mix the powder with black tea instead of water.

Tips: Since the result depends on the natural color and texture of the hair, before applying henna to all your hair, test the mixture on a small strand. If you like the result, proceed!

Natural henna is mixed with lemon juice or water to form a thick paste. It oxidizes with any metal it contacts, so it should never be applied with metal tools but only mixed in a plastic container with a plastic or wooden spoon, spatula, or brush. The henna mixture should be prepared 6-12 hours before application to clean, dry hair.

Dandruff Treatment: The night before, soak one to two teaspoons of black cumin seeds in water, then blend them in the morning. Heat some mustard oil and add the henna. Allow the mixture to cool and apply it to the scalp, leaving it on for an hour before washing.

Usage:

Prepare the mixture based on the length of your hair. You'll need approximately 100g of henna powder for short hair, 300g for shoulder-length hair, and 500g for very long hair. Gradually add lemon juice or water while stirring until a thick paste forms.

Be sure to wear gloves, take a sufficient amount of paste, and start applying it from the back of the head, gradually moving to the top. Ensure that the henna penetrates each strand by massaging it in with your fingers.

After applying henna to all hair, cover your head with plastic wrap or a bag. The heat generated will help the henna penetrate better. Don't forget to wipe any skin around your hairline immediately to avoid stains.

Wait 2-4 hours, depending on how intense you want the result. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and wash with your regular shampoo.

TIPS:

The amount of henna you'll need depends on the length and density of your hair. If you want a deeper color, you can mix the powder with coffee instead of water. For more intense reddish highlights, you can add red wine to the water. Also, add a tablespoon of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to stabilize the color. Throughout the application process, wear gloves and be careful not to stain your clothes.

Mix about one cup of henna powder in a bowl with enough hot water to create a thick paste, add the egg yolk, and mix well. Aim for a medium-thick paste by adjusting the powder or water as needed. If it becomes too thick, it will be brittle, and if too thin, it will run down your face and neck.
